Introduction to Netrun

This page will orient the reader with the major concepts and components of Netrun, and provide the roadmap to developing in the ecosystem.

Components of the Netrun platform

The Netrun platform consists of the following components:

  1. A pool of modules. Each module is an incentive-based competition marketplace that produces a specific kind of digital asset related to non-fungible systems. It consists of a community of developers who produce the asset, and a community of validatorswho measure the developers' work to ensure its quality, according to module-specific standards.

Each module is its own community, with its own goal, operating according to its own standards. For example, the core asset module, developed by the Netrun foundation, incentivizes module developers that produce the best programmable assets in response to the prompts sent by the module validators in that module.

To explore existing modules, check out the listings on Netrun.xyz, or engage with Netrun communities on Discord.

  2. The Solana blockchain serves as a system of record, and integration with Metaplex serves as the standard for participation in module activities. Developers and validators harvest rewards based on both their performance within modules, and on the performance of those modules within Netrun. Hence, the Netrun ecosystem incentivizes developers and validators to do their best, creating the perfect conditions for continuous improvement. The Solana blockchain records balances and transactions for developers, validators and module creators, and allows arbitrary parties to interact with modules in order to support their work.
  3. The Netrun SDK, which supports interactions between developers and validators within modules, and allows all parties to interact with the blockchain as necessary.

Netrun provides all the open source tools, codebase and the documentation, with step-by-step tutorials and guides, to enable you to participate in the Netrun ecosystem.
